Caldwell Board of Education Names Caldwell Native Interim Superintendent

 

A Caldwell County native has been named Interim Superintendent of Caldwell County Schools.
During a special called Board of Education meeting Thursday night Chairman Tim Kenneday explained after receiving four resumes the board had narrowed the candidates down to one.

Following unanimous decision Kenneday noted Heath Cartwright would begin as Interim Superintendent September 1st following the retirement of current Superintendent Nate Huggins and would serve in the position up until June 30th, 2021.


Cartwright, who grew up in Caldwell County but graduated in Fulton City, served as Assistant Superintendent of McCracken County Schools for several years before serving as Interim Superintendent in 2019. He expressed he is very honored and appreciative of the ability to serve Caldwell County and looks forward to helping the board find the right person for the job.

In other business Chairman Kenneday also presented a recommendation for the amended calendar for the 2020-2021 school year.

Board member Bill Cliff stated it was imperative that the board approve the amended start date.

The board then unanimously approved the amended start date of August 24th following a motion and second.
