Hopkins County Nurse Convicted Of Abusing Vulnerable Adult

A Hopkins County nurse has been convicted for reckless abuse of a vulnerable adult that occurred at a nursing home more than two years ago. Attorney General Daniel Cameron made the announcement Tuesday afternoon that 36-year old Ashley Maypray of Madisonville was prosecuted and convicted after an investigation by his Office of Medicaid Fraud and Abuse.
While employed as a licensed practical nurse at a nursing home in March 2018, Maypray reportedly slapped and pinched a vulnerable adult for whom she was providing care. On Monday, Cameron says Maypray entered an Alford plea to one count of reckless abuse or neglect of an adult, a Class A misdemeanor. She was sentenced by the Hopkins County Circuit Court to twelve months of probation. As a special plea condition, Cameron says Maypray agreed to voluntary placement on the Caregiver Misconduct Registry maintained by the Cabinet for Health and Family Services for a period of seven years.
Suspected incidents of elder abuse, neglect, or exploitation should be reported to the Attorney General’s elder abuse tip line, which can be found in this story on our website.
