Positive COVID-19 Case Reported On HCC Campus

Officials with Hopkinsville Community College announced Tuesday morning an employee at the college has tested positive for COVID-19.
HCC officials say they were made aware of the confirmation Monday afternoon and both the employee and college representatives have been in contact with the Christian County Health Department for advisement. They add the health department will contact anyone who has been identified as having been in contact with the HCC employee.
According to HCC Health at Work Officer Yvonne Glasman, the college is currently following a reopening plan which limits in-person capacity to 50 percent of employees on campus with the remaining employees continuing to work remotely. Mandatory face coverings, social distancing, hand sanitizing, and additional facility cleaning are all practices that are in place at both the Hopkinsville and Fort Campbell campuses.
College President Dr. Alissa Young says the health and safety of employees and students continue to be a primary concern at HCC and they have extensive protocols in place that will help them manage through this difficult health crisis.
HCC’s campuses are open with appointments preferred. Officials say Fall classes are planned for online, on campus in-person and hybrid form as a combination of both. The Fall I term begins on August 17 and Fall II starts on October 19.
