Hay Barn in Caldwell County Total Loss in Early Morning Fire Saturday

A hay barn was a total loss during an early morning fire in Caldwell County Saturday.
Princeton Fire Chief Brent Francis says around 1:35 crews were dispatched to reports of a barn on fire on Cadiz Road, just outside of the Princeton city limits. He adds when firefighters arrived on scene the barn was fully involved and had already partially collapsed.
Chief Francis states crews were able to salvage a grain wagon and hay cart but the over 200 rolls of hay, a few remaining pieces of farm equipment, and the barn were a total loss. Crews were on scene for a little over an hour monitoring hotspots but Chief Francis explains there was no threat of the fire spreading thanks to recent rains.
Chief Francis notes the cause of the fire is still unknown but was likely spurred by the curing process of the recently cut hay.
