Kuttawa Man Facing Robbery Charges Following Armed Robbery in Lyon County

59-year-old Paul S. Franks, of Kuttawa

A Kuttawa man is facing various charges following an armed robbery in Lyon County earlier in the month.
Lyon County Sheriff Brent White says deputies, as well as Troopers with the Kentucky State Police, were called to a reported armed robbery approximately nine miles south of Eddyville around 1:53PM Saturday, September 12th. He adds reports indicated a white male had allegedly entered Molloy’s Korner convenience store wearing a hoodie sweatshirt, brandishing a knife, and demanded cash from the clerk. During the robbery, Sheriff White states a brief struggle occurred, whereby the offender attempted to stab or cut the clerk.
The offender then fled the scene on foot toward KY 274 before law enforcement arrived and despite a search of the area, he was not located.
Sheriff White reports on Thursday deputies were able to identify a male suspect who had been visiting friends in the area over the past week. In addition, deputies were able to locate and seize evidence related to the robbery off of Driftwood Drive while searching for the suspect. Around four Thursday afternoon deputies located the suspected offender and detained him initially on traffic offenses and he was brought to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office for questioning.
Following an interview the offender, identified as 59-year-old Paul S. Franks, was arrested and charged in connection with the case. Franks is facing first degree robbery and tampering with physical evidence charges and was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.
