More Than 1,000 New COVID Cases Reported In Kentucky Saturday

Governor Andy Beshear reported 1,002 new coronavirus cases Saturday, the second-highest single-day total number of cases since the virus began. Kentucky reported its highest one-day number of 1,163 cases over a month ago on August 12.
Governor Beshear said Saturday’s report shows that when we let our guard down, the virus truly spreads. He added the virus is everywhere and we must keep our guard up. He said the only positive news in Saturday’s report is the state’s positivity rate remains under 4 percent at 3.82 percent.
Of the 1,002 new cases, the governor said 145 were from children age 18 and under including 29 age five and younger. The additional new cases raised the state’s total to 61.106.
The governor also reported seven new deaths Saturday, pushing the state’s death toll to 1,108 related to the virus.
To date, more than 1.1 million tests had been administered and at least 11,237 Kentuckians have recovered from the virus.
