COVID-19 Metric Changed for School Districts Across Kentucky

Public Health Commissioner Dr. Steven Stack said Tuesday he has made one change to the COVID-19 metrics for K-12 education that affects when students could return to in-person classes after being in the ‘red’ zone.
In previous guidance, if a county goes red on the state’s COVID-19 incidence rate map, it’s recommended that schools switch over to NTI work and halt in-person classes until they return to at least yellow.
Stack added he has changed that guidance to remove that part.

Stack added he knows people are tired and fed up of hearing about COVID-19. He said we could be dealing with the virus through most of 2021.

Stack said until that time we have to continue to follow COVID-19 guidelines.

Governor Andy Beshear confirmed 1,018 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday, which is the second-highest day of confirmed cases. In addition, 8 new deaths were announced Tuesday.
