Irvin A. Gilson, Jr, 94, of Eddyville

Funeral services for Irvin A. Gilson, Jr, age 94, of Eddyville, will be held Saturday afternoon at two at Lakeland Funeral Home in Eddyville. Burial will follow at Rolling Hills Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Saturday morning from eleven until service time at the funeral home.
Irvin was a band director at Murray High School and Lyon County High School and a principal in Crittenden County. He was a member of Eddyville First Baptist Church, Joppa Lodge #167, Eddyville City Council, Lyons Club, Paducah Jazz Ensemble and Rizpah Temple Shrine. He was also a Kentucky Colonel, volunteer fireman, a Boy Scout Master, and a WWII Navy veteran.
He is survived by one daughter: Jackie Mayes and husband, Clyde, of Eddyville; one son: Dr. Scott Gilson and wife, Sharon, of Glasgow; six grandchildren: John Mayes and wife, Venti, Lena Ward and husband, Brian, Emma Mayes, Katie Gilson Shepard and husband, Van, Dr. Emily Gilson Knight and husband, Tyler, and Ian Gilson and wife, Samantha; he is also survived by ten great-grandchildren.
During this difficult time, friends and family may show their support by joining the “Hugs from Home” program where heartfelt messages will be attached to a balloon in the chapel to remind the family of their love and support. Expressions of sympathy may also be made to Gideon’s International Lyon Caldwell Camp in Eddyville, the Shriners Rizpah Temple in Madisonville, or the Boy Scouts of America in Lexington.
