With the coronavirus pandemic leading to many changes in how kids will go trick-or-treating this Halloween several local organizations are planning fun ways to allow families to safely partake in the annual celebration.
Sue Ann Loney, Manager of Cash Express in Princeton, says they will be hosting a trunk or treat event Friday from 5 until 6:30PM at their location on Highway 62 West beside Taco Bell.
She adds the invitation is open for other organizations or churches to also participate and Loney notes there will be several guidelines they will follow, including keeping six feet distancing, wearing masks or other facial coverings, and providing pre-packaged candy. Meanwhile, Presley Lamm, Paster at Fredonia First Baptist Church, says the church has partnered with the Central Presbyterian Church to host “Treats on the Street” Saturday beginning at 4PM in Fredonia.

Also on Saturday the City of Princeton will be hosting a Halloween Scavenger Hunt from 3 until 6PM throughout the entire town. Trick-or-treaters are encouraged to follow clues on a map, to be provided later, to catch Frankenstein green-handed as he attempts to steal a Princeton fire truck. Clues, and candy, can be gathered at each business indicated on the map to help trick-or-treaters find the missing fire truck. Once found, participants can turn in their filled-out sheet for a chance to win $300 worth of cash and prizes thanks to the Princeton Rotary and Optimist Clubs.
Princeton Mayor Kota Young says traditional trick-or-treating in Princeton will be allowed, however, he is asking that residents use common sense and observe all coronavirus related guidance set by local and state health officials.
