Christian County and Kentucky Wednesday COVID-19 Update

As the total COVID-19 case number in Christian County continues to climb, the county remains in the ‘red’ zone, even as the state has shown otherwise.
Health department spokeswoman Amanda Sweeney said Wednesday afternoon the current incidence rate was 28.6

Sweeney added the county was nearing 600 COVID cases in October and said the virus continues to spread due to a lack of people wearing face masks.

Christian County confirmed 41 new cases Wednesday. The county has reported a total of 1,963 cases, of which 303 are active. The 20-29 age group has the highest amount of active cases at 62, with the 60-69 age group reporting 44. The other age groups in Christian County have less than 40 active cases each.
During the news conference, Jennie Stuart Health’s Beth McCraw said they had nine people who had tested positive for COVID-19 being treated at the hospital.

McCraw added on Tuesday; they had a total of 10 people test positive for COVID-19 in their emergency room.
Across the Commonwealth, state officials announced Wednesday afternoon 1,864 new COVID-19 cases and 14 new deaths. The state’s positivity rate is now 6.07-percent. The positivity rate is above the level Governor Andy Beshear said they would use to make additional recommendations for schools.
That has changed, as Beshear announced Wednesday.

During Thursday afternoon’s COVID update, Beshear is expected to ask all of the counties and communities in the ‘red’ zone on the incidence rate map to follow recommendations released on Monday. The recommendations will be asked to remain in place the entire week and for those areas to re-evaluate their plans for the following week next Thursday.
