Highest Day Ever of COVID-19 New Cases and Deaths Reported Thanksgiving Day

Governor Andy Beshear announced the state’s highest day ever for new coronavirus cases and deaths were reported on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day.
The governor released the information Friday afternoon that 3,870 new cases were confirmed and there were 32 deaths connected to the virus. The deaths include an 86-year-old man from Christian County; a 69-year-old man from Hopkins County; an 81-year-old woman and an 89-year-old man from Calloway County; and an 89-year-old woman and a 67-year-old man from Graves County.
Governor Beshear asked families to avoid busy shopping areas to prevent a further escalation of COVID-19 cases. He also reminded Kentuckians that many retailers are extending Black Friday deals to limit crowds.
The governor also asked shoppers to consider safer options, like purchasing gifts online for delivery or curbside pick-up. Beshear reminded Kentuckians to wash your hands, stay six feet apart from other shoppers, and wear a mask at all times. He added now is the time they need everyone to buckle down, stay strong, and stop the surge in cases.
Governor Beshear also reported 1,747 new cases were confirmed Friday and four new deaths, raising the state’s death toll to 1,871 since the outbreak began.
The case information also included 1,714 cases are currently in the hospital, 390 are in ICU, and 216 are on ventilators.
As of Friday, the state reported an 8.85% positive rate.
