State Says First Vaccines To Ship To Hospitals Next Week

Governor Andy Beshear said Tuesday the first doses of the Pfizer vaccines will be made available to targeted people next week.
Last week, the state said 11 hospitals would receive the first set of 38,025 Pfizer vaccines. Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Baptist Health in Madisonville, and The Medical Center at Bowling Green will each receive 975 doses as part of the state’s plan to provide front line health care workers with the vaccine.
In addition, Beshear said the first batch of 76,700 Moderna vaccines will be available around Dec. 20-26. The second Moderna batch of 33,800 vaccines will be available between Dec. 27-31.
In case news, the state reported 3,114 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday, which is over 1,000 less than last Tuesday but 424 more than the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.
The number of people hospitalized and in the ICU due to the virus has also decreased in the past week.
The state reported 20 new deaths Tuesday, bringing the total in December to 194, which is four fewer than the entire month of August.
The state also said people can still request help to pay utility bills through the $15 million Healthy at Home Utility Assistance Fund. People who qualify can receive up to $500 for water and sewer bills and up to $400 to pay gas or electric utility bills.
The fund expires on December 31, 2020, or earlier if the fund is depleted. So far, $6.81 million has already been requested.
