Kentucky Reports Second-Highest Daily COVID Case Total

One day after setting a record for new COVID-19 cases, Kentucky reported its second-highest number on Thursday.
The state added 4,911 cases of the virus bringing the January total to 22,207, which is still about 1,400 cases less than the first week of December. Kentucky reported over 5,700 cases Wednesday.  The report said 80-percent of the 291,430 cases are confirmed cases of the coronavirus.  The other 57,958 cases are probable cases.
The state’s positivity rate increased for an 11th straight day to 11.9-percent.
There were also 37 new deaths linked to the virus reported on Thursday. January’s death total of 181 is seven more than the first week of December and 105 more than the first week of November.
The number of people in the hospital and in the ICU with the virus dropped slightly from Wednesday.
