Representative Bechler Talks About State Budget

The Kentucky Legislature faces extra pressure this year, as they have a month to pass a one-year budget and other priorities.
4th District State Representative Lynn Bechler tells the News Edge they need 60-percent of the vote in each chamber to approve the budget.

Bechler expects to vote on the budget and send it to the Senate Monday afternoon.

He added it was interesting that the state revenue, not including CARES Act funding, was more than previous years. Bechler said that is not a valid indicator of how the state is actually doing.

Bechler hopes they will have a chance to look at some other legislation before adjourning this week and not coming back until February 1.
Bechler’s district includes Caldwell, Crittenden, Livingston, and a portion of Christian counties.
