Kentucky Reports Nearly 4,000 New COVID Cases Friday

Governor Andy Beshear announced Friday afternoon the state is ramping up vaccine distribution.
Beshear said the Commonwealth is on track to meet the goal of administering 90-percent of all vaccines received within seven days of arrival. He added that last week the state-administered more doses of vaccine than was received.
The state has received 325,625 COVID-19 vaccine doses with 190,547 doses already administered. Of those doses, 31,158 have been administered to long-term care facility residents and staff.
Governor Beshear reported 3,955 new COVID-19 cases Friday, along with 19 deaths. The state’s positivity rate fell slightly to 12.09-percent.
There are currently 1,644 residents hospitalized with COVID-19, with 392 in the ICU and 203 on the ventilator.
