Caldwell School District Receives Clean Audit for FY 2019-20


Caldwell County school board members approved a contract for new bus routing software and heard an audit presentation for the fiscal year 2019-2020 during a special called meeting Tuesday night.
Newly elected members of the Caldwell County school board, Stephanie Feagan, Anna Ray, and Stacy Brantly were sworn-in at the start of the meeting. The Board also re-elected Tim Kennaday as chair and Kim Cook as vice-chairperson.

Lindsey Thomas, a staff accountant with Duguid, Gentry & Associates, presented the audit and said the school district had a clean opinion.


click to download audioFollowing the audit presentation, board members unanimously approved changing the start time for regular board meetings to 6:00 p.m. The board will keep the day of the month they meet ‘as is’ — the third Monday.

In other action, board members unanimously approved a three-year contract with Tyler Technology for new bus routing software. Interim Superintendent Heath Cartwright said this software would be an investment beneficial for the district, mainly due to some severe transportation issues with a limited amount of bus drivers.


click to download audioHe said the price of the software for the first year is $7,100 which is a higher amount because it’s a setup cost.


click to download audioCartwright added the purpose of purchasing this software is in no way to reduce the number of bus drivers in the district.

Since this month is January School Board Appreciation Month, board members were recognized at the end of the meeting and presented certificates of appreciation.
