Health Departments to Receive Limited Amount of COVID-19 Vaccines

Governor Andy Beshear announced four new regional COVID-19 vaccination sites in the state with one to be located at Murray State University.
The sites are targeting Kentuckians over the age of 70, although people in the first two tiers are still eligible to receive vaccines.
The state now has 38 regional vaccination sites with eight located in western Kentucky and 15 in eastern Kentucky. Two sites are in Paducah and two are now located in Bowling Green.
The regional sites are meant to be able to handle high capacities and service a larger area. The governor said the new regional sites will receive 2,000 to 3,000 doses per week.
The Murray vaccination site at the CFSB Center will be operational on consecutive Wednesdays on February 10 and February 17. People wanting to make an appointment should contact the Calloway County Health Department.
The state also announced that health departments across the state will be given vaccine doses based on population. The five-county Pennyrile District Health Department is included among the new locations. Health departments in Christian, Todd, Hopkins, Marshall, and Calloway counties are also on the list.
Health Commissioner Dr. Steven Stack said each county will receive vaccine doses based on population.

Grace Donaldson with the Pennyrile District Health Department said the agency will receive 500 doses over the next three weeks for a total of 1,500 doses. She expected each of the five counties to vaccinate 100 new people a week.
Donaldson said the health department hopes to finalize its distribution plan Friday.
Beshear said over 401,000 Kentuckians have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine which is roughly nine percent of the state’s total population.
