Caldwell County High School spring sports will get some much-needed improvements thanks to a donation from a local organization.
Princeton Elks Lodge #1115 presented the school with a check for $5,000 on Monday between baseball and softball workouts in the teams’ new practice facility in the basement of the Butler building.
Top items on the agenda include artificial turf for the new baseball and softball facility and a new high jump pit for the Caldwell track program.
Caldwell County High School also has several other projects lined up for spring, including new backstops at the baseball and softball fields, and new fence capping at the baseball field similar to what is already on the softball field.
The Board of Education had already approved paying for a new long jump pit for the track teams.
Caldwell County athletic director Kim Farmer also noted on Monday that all tickets for baseball and softball games this season, both home and away, will be sold through Ticketleap.com. The school does not plan to have tickets available at the gate this season.
