Princeton Man Charged After Physical Altercation

Brett Whitney/Caldwell County Jail

A Princeton man was arrested on several charges, including assault and unlawful imprisonment, after an alleged altercation at a residence on Citizens Court Tuesday afternoon.
Assistant Princeton Police Chief Shane Allison says officers responded to a disturbance in the 200 block of Citizens Court around 1:40. Upon arrival, officers observed 32-year old Brett Whitney, Rueben Martinez, and Jennifer McGregor involved in a physical altercation. After officers separated the parties, Martinez and Hawkins, told police they had been assaulted by Whitney.
According to Allison, an investigation revealed that Whitney had also held another victim, Brandi Hawkins, against her will inside a residence on Citizens Court. Police say Hawkins said Whitney would not let her leave the residence or allow her to use her phone.
Whitney was taken into custody and lodged in the Caldwell County Jail charged with two counts of fourth-degree assault, second-degree unlawful imprisonment, second-degree disorderly conduct, third-degree terroristic threatening, two counts of menacing, prescription controlled substance not in a proper container, two counts of illegal possession of a legend drug, interfering with communications, and second-degree possession of a controlled substance.
