Kentucky Reports 744 New COVID-19 Cases Friday

Governor Andy Beshear announced over 700 new COVID-19 cases Friday and a 2.79 percent positivity rate.
The governor said it’s encouraging to see the state’s positivity rate decrease again, but added we need to work even harder to make sure our weekly case numbers start decreasing again as well. Beshear said every Kentuckian 16 and older should get their COVID-19 vaccine as soon as possible. He added “it’s fast, it’s safe, it’s easy and you could save a life by doing so, maybe even your own life.”
As of Friday afternoon, Beshear reported 744 new cases and nine new deaths, five of which are from state’s ongoing COVID fatality audit.
Currently, there are 382 cases hospitalized, while 106 are in ICU and 60 are on a ventilator.
