The Marion-Crittenden County Airport Board is among 30 airports across Kentucky that received funding to continue operations and keep travelers say during the coronavirus pandemic.
U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell announced Monday morning, the federal funding of more than $12.8 million distributed by the Federal Aviation Administration was made available by the bipartisan Coronavirus Relief and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2020.
The Marion-Crittenden County Airport Board along with the City of Madisonville each received $13,000.
Senator McConnell says the bipartisan COVID relief passed by the Senate last year continues to fuel Kentucky’s economic comeback. The senator says he’s proud these resources will lift the Commonwealth’s airports as they support their workers and safely connect travelers to their destinations.
According to the FAA, the funding can be used for costs ranging from operations and personnel to sanitization and combating the spread of pathogens at the airport.
Before the funding announcement Monday, Kentucky airports had received nearly $100 million from the bipartisan COVID rescue packages.
