A Dawson Springs High School junior has been selected for the elite Kentucky Governor’s Scholars Program.
Melissa Larimore, the communications coordinator for the school system, recently announced that Gabe Workman was accepted into the program.
The Kentucky Governor’s Scholars Program is a summer residential program hosted at selected universities across the state. Morehead State University in Morehead, Bellarmine University in Louisville and Centre College in Danville are hosting the program.
The GSP program, established in 1983, is five weeks and features field trips, classes, seminars, speakers, special events, and a film series.
Students must fill out an application and show academic excellence as well as list extracurricular activities and volunteer hours.
According to Larimore, Workman hopes to attend Morehead State University to study aerospace engineering.
