Work Zone Lane Restriction On I-24 In Lyon County Starts Monday

KYTC Map

Motorists traveling in southern Lyon County need to be aware of a lane restriction beginning Monday along a section of Interstate 24 to allow asphalt overlay, guardrail upgrades, and other improvements.
Spokesman Keith Todd with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says the lane restriction will be near the KY 293 Eddyville-Princeton Exit 45 interchange extending eastward to near the KY 903 Overpass, a distance of 6.7 miles.
Todd says all traffic will initially move to the left-hand or passing lane in the work zone. The contractor will then use a traffic shift as needed to facilitate the work.
Motorists need to use appropriate caution in the work zone where equipment, flaggers and personnel are along the roadway near traffic flow. Todd says there will be a 55 mile per hour work zone speed limit with double fines for speeding and an enhanced law enforcement presence.
According to Todd, the contractor plans to complete this project in four weeks in time for all lanes to be open for the Memorial Day holiday driving period, weather permitting.
