Beshear To Ease Curfew Restrictions On Restaurants And Bars

The COVID-related curfew for Kentucky’s bars and restaurants will end Memorial Day weekend.
Governor Andy Beshear announced Monday that seating at bars will be allowed again starting on May 28.
Beshear extended the curfew at bars and restaurants by an hour in March to guard against the spread of the coronavirus. Until May 28, bars and restaurants can serve until midnight and close at 1 a.m.
It’s the second straight week the governor has loosened restrictions regarding capacity. Also on May 28, all indoor and outdoor events under 1,000 people can be held at 75-percent capacity. Events with more than 1,000 people can operate at 60-percent capacity.
In addition, Beshear said the state will update the Healthy at Work guidelines regarding social distancing in the workplace.
The state reported 167 new cases of COVID-19 Monday with data showing a continued plateau over the past few weeks. Over 1.87-million Kentuckians have received at least one dose of the vaccine. That includes 80-percent of the state’s population that is 65 and older and 53-percent of those over 16.
Beshear said when 12-to-15-year-olds are allowed to get COVID-19 shots, he will look at setting date for lifting even more business restrictions.
Public Health Commissioner Dr. Steven Stack is expected to meet with the state’s school superintendents Tuesday to inform them on how the state may assist schools interested in having on-site Prizer COVID-19 vaccinations when they become available.
