Caldwell Magistrates Award Road Department Bids for 2021-22


Caldwell County Fiscal Court magistrates awarded road department bids for 2021-2022 at Tuesday morning’s meeting.
During a discussion about the bids, Judge-Executive Larry Curling said the lowest bid for blacktop was submitted by Road Builders with Magistrate Jeff Boone adding they were grateful for all the work done by Rogers Group.


click to download audioMagistrates also accepted low bids submitted by Marathon Petroleum Company for tack oil, Crown Paving for chip and seal, and Metal Culverts for pipe or culverts. For rock, magistrates approved Rogers Group and Lafarge, with the road department purchasing rock at the most convenient location.

Magistrates also unanimously approved a resolution to appoint two viewers in the discontinuance of 250 feet on Weaver Road.


click to download audioIn unfinished business, there will be a public information meeting Thursday afternoon, June 17, from 4:00 p.m until 7:00 p.m. The meeting will be an open house format to inform the public of the proposed Caldwell Solar Project and seek feedback regarding the project plan. The project is an up to 200-megawatt solar energy project currently being developed southeast of Fredonia, near Crider.
Anyone interested in addressing Fiscal Court at the next meeting, Tuesday morning, June 22, at 9:00 should contact Judge Curling’s office no later than noon Friday, June 18th.
