Heat Building Up Through Saturday, Cool Down Expected Next Week

As daily rain chances continue, so does the latest buildup of heat.
Weather Edge forecaster David Powell says we will begin to see more sunshine as we get closer to Sunday, but not before one of the hottest days we’ve seen this year, Saturday.

The forecast calls for heat indices as high as 100° Saturday.
Powell adds if you are going to be outside for any period of time during the heat of the day, you need to follow these tips.

After the hot temperatures, Powell says be prepared for some temperatures similar to September next week.

Powell adds the long-range models continue to show below-average temperatures for July, August, and September.
As for June, Kentucky Mesonet sites have measured anywhere from 2 to 4 inches of rainfall, although some areas have seen higher amounts. The daily chances for showers and storms should end Sunday.
