
The annual Summer Slam in Princeton organized by HR Ministries is a week away with the final touches being finalized.
The 11th annual event held on the Butler Building lawn makes a return after a year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Harrell Riley of HR Ministries said musical groups scheduled to attend include the J.J. weeks Band, Chris August, and a popular group from the past.

click to download audioRiley and Torey Hammett have been the lightning rods behind the day-long event that features inflatables, concessions, and a human foosball tournament.
Hammett got the idea for Summer Slam while attending a similar event near St. Louis years ago. As many as 1,500 people have attended the Summer Slam in the past with nearly 100 volunteers needed to help with set up and clean up.
Riley said the impact of Summer Slam is something that can be felt in several different ways throughout the community.
