Caldwell Fiscal Court Hears About Deputies Lifesaving Efforts (w/Photos)


Damages from weekend flooding were discussed at the Caldwell Fiscal Court meeting Tuesday morning along with the lifesaving efforts of two deputies who rescued a female motorist stranded in floodwaters.
Judge-Executive Larry Curling thanked the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Department for their help over the weekend responding to calls related to flooding and complimented two deputies for their lifesaving efforts. Sheriff Stan Hudson shared with Fiscal Court that Deputy Chad Hawkins and Deputy Josh Travis responded to one particular 911 call around 6:00 Sunday morning from a female motorist whose vehicle was in a ditch and stranded in floodwaters on Enon Road.

He says the deputies put their lives on the line and luckily everyone survived.

Magistrates also expressed their gratitude to all the county workers and emergency personnel who pitched in to help with the flooding issues.

Judge Curling also thanked the county’s road crew for their efforts over the weekend as the flooding washed out tiles and bridges. He also said the county is going to apply for emergency funding due to the flood damages in the northern portion of the county.

In new business, magistrates unanimously approved the second reading of an ordinance to discontinue 250 feet of Weaver Lane, along with a motion to advertise for bids for a new voting machine and indexing system.
The next Fiscal Court meeting will be Tuesday morning, July 27 at 9:00. Anyone wishing to address the Fiscal Court at that meeting should contact Judge Curling’s office no later than noon Friday, July 23.
