Kentucky Offers ‘Red Zone’ County Recommendations

Kentucky Health Commissioner Dr. Steven Stack announced new ‘red zone reduction recommendations’ during a state COVID-19 briefing Thursday.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the Commonwealth had ten ‘red zone’ counties, including Hopkins, Muhlenberg, and Webster.
The first recommendation, each of those counties should increase vaccination efforts to reach those unvaccinated.

That state also recommends that those counties encourage masking, physical distancing, and maximizing outdoor spaces for gatherings.

Other ‘red zone’ recommendations include: encouraging medically vulnerable people to avoid social activities with non-vaccinated people, consider postponing large events, and engaging community partners and stakeholders to implement a strong communication plan.

Once again, Governor Andy Beshear encouraged everyone eligible to get vaccinated.

From Monday to Wednesday, Kentucky has announced 2,257 new COVID-19 cases and 9 new deaths. As of Wednesday afternoon, the statewide testing positivity rate was above six percent.
