A bear has been spotted in Caldwell County, days after a similar report in Webster County.
Biologist John Hast, a bear program coordinator for the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife, tells the News Edge the bear is an American Black Bear.

Hast adds earlier in the week that it was rare for it to be that far west when it was spotted in the Henderson/Webster County area. The bear was spotted Friday afternoon near 250 Sugar Creek Church Road in Caldwell County.

Hast says a bear can travel around 30 miles a day and will more than likely head back home in the coming weeks.
When it comes to large livestock being around the bear, Hast says there have been no reports of these bears attacking or harming them in any way.
He adds that the number one tip to make sure a bear doesn’t stick around is eliminating any food sources.

Another important tip, Hast says, is to share with your neighbors that you have seen a bear in the area. More information about black bears can be found here.
