
The George Coon Public Library has announced the winners of their Chalk About Summer chalk art contest as part of the Summer Reading Program “Tails and Tales”.
Rebecca Pool, who coordinates the program, tells the News Edge the Summer Reading Program is for all ages. This year, she says they came up with an idea to have a chalk art contest to get the community and local business owners to participate.
click to download audioShe says they then allowed the public to vote for their top three favorites via Facebook and at the library.
click to download audioPool adds also wanted to give prizes to reward the winners and at the same time show the library’s patrons the results of the contest. She says they decided to give gift certificates to the winners that could also be returned to the library’s patrons.

Pool says they also have a couple of fun events for adults and families coming up in August, which includes a trivia night and a movie.
