Police Department Renovation Will Give Princeton Officers More Space

Work on the renovation of the Princeton Police Department is in the preliminary stages with bids expected to be let later this year.
At the last Princeton City Council meeting, Mayor Kota Young said he and Police Chief Chris King have looked over preliminary plans for the work and asked the council to look at the blueprints.


click to download audioChief King said the nearly 50-year-old building is in good structural shape but the inside space needs to be reshaped into a better working environment.

click to download audioBoth the mayor and the chief believe the new workspace would improve both morale for the current officers and help the department recruit new officers.
The project has been budgeted at $900,000 by the city, but Young said it will likely be completed for less than that. Bids are expected to be let on the project by November.
