White Announces New Fiber Internet Project in Lyon County

Judge-Executive Wade White has announced a new project to provide fiber internet in Lyon County.
White made the announcement on social media that Lyon County Fiscal Court has received $1 million in federal funds that Fiscal Court agreed would be used to provide fiber internet.


click to download audioHe added they have divided Lyon County into two zones — Zone A and Zone B.
Judge White said they have received several proposals with Fiscal Court accepting a bid from Pennyrile Rural Electric for $500,000 to provide internet service to those who live in Zone A, south of Eddy Creek.


click to download audioWhile Pennyrile Rural Electric is building the backbone, White says they will be applying for state and federal grants to increase the number of residents who can connect to fiber internet.


click to download audioAccording to White, Fastnet Wireless LLC will use $1 million to expand fiber internet to more than 1,700 additional households in Zone B, north of Eddy Creek into the Suwanee area.

Judge White said this is great news for Lyon County with a lot of residents being connected to fiber internet service the next two years.
