Caldwell County Grand Jury Returns Indictments

The Caldwell County Grand Jury has returned ten felony indictments and one no true bill after it met for the September session.
43-year old Brian Shelton, of Princeton, was indicted on charges of receiving stolen property under $10,000, third-degree possession of a controlled substance – Alprazolam, DUI first offense, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, second-degree persistent felony offender, and other offenses.
The charges stem from June 15 when Princeton police stopped Shelton on Madisonville Street for an expired registration plate on his vehicle and reportedly found him in possession of marijuana, Alprazolam, and drug paraphernalia. Police said the Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force also assisted in the traffic stop and charged Shelton with two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance stemming from an investigation in which undercover agents purchased meth from Shelton in February. He was not indicted on those charges at this time.
The grand jury indicted 32-year old Laken M. Calloway, of Princeton, on a charge of third-degree burglary. The charge is from June 7 when Calloway was arrested by Princeton Police after she was reportedly seen changing price tags at Walmart to lower the amounts of the items. Police said she then attempted to skip scanning some items at the self check out.
35-year old Howard M. Jones, of Murray, was indicted on charges of first-degree strangulation and fourth-degree assault. Jones was arrested by Princeton Police on July 5th after officers reported he got into a physical altercation at Walmart and strangled another person in the parking lot of the business.
The grand jury returned a true bill for 44-year old Belinda Sivells, of Greenville, on charges of DUI 4th or greater offense with aggravating circumstances, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, driving on a DUI suspended license with aggravating circumstances, and first-degree persistent felony offender.
On June 16, Caldwell County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a complaint of a female, later identified as Sivells, female driving on Farmersville Road who was involved in a collision. Deputies located Sivells and she was taken into custody and booked into the Caldwell County Jail.
36-year old Jared J. Asbridge, of Marion, was indicted on several charges including operating on a suspended/revoked operator’s license, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana, meth and drug paraphernalia, and second-degree disorderly conduct.
The charges stem from June 21 when Caldwell County Sheriff’s deputies said they stopped Asbridge for driving on a suspended license and also found him in possession of meth and marijuana.
The grand jury indicted 29-year old Dylan Shaw McKinney, of Charlotte, Tennessee, on charges of first-degree possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine – firearm enhanced, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, driving on a DUI suspended license, and failure of non-owner to maintain required insurance.
Princeton Police reported McKinney was arrested on July 15 after he was stopped by the Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force in the 600 block of East Market Street and found to be in possession of meth and a handgun.
And 27-year old Jesse K. Devlin and 63-year old Sheryl L. Ward, both of Princeton, were indicted on charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. In addition, Devlin was indicted on charges of first-degree trafficking of a controlled substance over 2 grams of meth – firearm enhanced, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon while Ward was indicted on a charge of first-degree possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine.
The charges stem from June 24 after a drug investigation by the Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force led to a search warrant at a home in East Green Street when agents found two grams of meth, along with marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a 9 mm handgun.
The grand jury also returned indictments on the following individuals:
20-year old Dawson James Teague, of Princeton, on a charge of receiving stolen property – firearm.
49-year old Gerald L. Watson, of Princeton, on charges of first-degree possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
And the grand jury returned a no true bill for Kyle Laffoon, of Princeton, who was initially charged with no/expired registration plates, failure of owner to maintain required insurance, and DUI 1st offense. A no true bill means the grand jury did not find enough evidence to charge Laffoon and dismissed the charges.
