An Eddyville man is facing multiple charges including assault and wanton endangerment after deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint in McCracken County Tuesday morning.
The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office reports deputies responded to the complaint around 7:00 a.m. at the end of Blair Road in the Reidland community and found a male asleep in the backseat of a vehicle.
During the investigation, deputies said they learned the male, 34-year old Jake Cowan had an active arrest warrant. When deputies went to arrest Cowan, they said he resisted and fled back into his vehicle. A deputy then attempted to tase Cowan, but it was ineffective. Deputies said Cowan produced his own taser during the struggle and tried to tase a deputy.
Cowan then reportedly fled in his vehicle through the neighborhood and fled on foot in the Lakeside Road area. Deputies said they located Cowan in a storage facility on Benton Road where he was taken into custody after a brief struggle.
Following his arrest, Cowan was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. He was lodged in the McCracken County Jail and charged with the arrest warrant for a probation violation, resisting arrest, third-degree assault, first-degree fleeing and evading police, first-degree wanton endangerment, third-degree burglary, second-degree fleeing or evading police, and other traffic-related offenses.
