Illinois Man Charged With Trigg Murder Following Police Pursuit

An Illinois man is in the Christian County Jail charged with murder after leading police on a pursuit through Trigg County Thursday.
48-year-old Harold Floyd Jett of Taylorville, Illinois was arrested after the pursuit ended at a Hilltop Street residence just outside Cadiz.
Trigg County Sheriff Aaron Acree said his department responded to a call of shots fired during an altercation in the 12000 block of the South Road around noon. He said Jett shot at a vehicle at the residence and left in a pickup truck at a high rate of speed.
The sheriff said deputies located Jett on US 68 and attempted to stop him. Acree said Jett fled at speeds in excess of 100 mph. The Cadiz Police Department assisted in trying to stop Jett’s truck.
Acree said Jett made his way to a Hilltop Street residence with a long gravel driveway. When officers approached the home, Acree said Jett attempted to leave in the truck. Acree said a Cadiz Police officer fired a shot at the truck, disabling it.
Jett then ran into the Hilltop Street residence but was apprehended without incident a short time later.
Kentucky State Police said 71-year-old Mary V. Dullenty of Cadiz was found injured inside the Hilltop Street residence. She was transported to Trigg County Hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. An autopsy on Dullenty has been requested by state police.
Police have not released details about the relationship between Jett and the deceased woman. They also have not released the manner in which she died.
He said Kentucky State Police was requested to investigate the murder case. They have charged Jett with murder and second-degree burglary.
Acree said his department charged Jett with first-degree criminal mischief, first-degree wanton endangerment, speeding, and first-degree fleeing police.
He has no bond and is scheduled to be arraigned in Trigg County District Court Tuesday.
