Princeton One Step Closer to Airport Improvements

The Princeton Airport is one step closer to receiving nearly $200,000 to make upgrades at the nearly 60-year-old facility.
Councilman Jim Joiner told Princeton City Council Monday that the grant application has been completed and sent to the state for approval. He said he expected to learn by the end of the year if the grant was approved.
The Princeton Airport Board voted last month to build new hangars contingent on receiving the grant money. The grant request came about after the board was approached by at least a dozen people — including a flight instructor and an airplane mechanic — who want a hangar built at the airport.
Joiner said the process to begin construction at the airport if the grant is approved would begin early next year.
In other business at Monday’s meeting, Mayor Kota Young said the city continues planning for the second annual Halloween Scavenger Hunt that will be held Saturday, October 30th. He said over 45 businesses have signed up for the event and said anyone interested in being a location for candy and a clue for the scavenger hunt, can contact city hall or speak with him personally.
Young says businesses will be listed on a map that will be made available next week. He says the children will be able to come by during the event to pick up candy and a clue that will be in the form of a riddle. He notes the answers to the riddles will be used to spell out the secret to this year’s story.
The scavenger hunt will be held Saturday, October 30th from 3-6 p.m.
