Kentucky State Police are investigating a single-vehicle wreck in Lyon County that claimed the life of a Caldwell County man Friday afternoon.
Kentucky State Police Post 1 spokeswoman Sarah Burgess says troopers were called around 2:40 p.m. to the scene of a wreck with injuries around the 1600 block of KY 293 near Eddyville.
According to the initial investigation, 61-year old Daniel R. Svoboda was driving a Penske box truck pulling a trailer southbound on Ky 293 when for unknown reasons the vehicle ran off the road and struck a culvert. After hitting the culvert, the vehicle crossed back over the road and overturned. Burgess says Svoboda was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the box truck. Svoboda was transported by Lyon County EMS to Caldwell County Hospital where Burgess says he died from his injuries.
Kentucky State Police are continuing to investigate the fatal wreck.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, Lyon County EMS, Eddyville Fire Department, and the Caldwell County Coroner’s Office assisted at the scene.
