Due to the Christmas parade in Marion Saturday, traffic will need to detour as the city plans to close U.S. 60/Main Street through the downtown area.
District 1 spokesman Keith Todd with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says the parade runs along U.S. 60/Main Street starting at the U.S. 641 intersection at Crittenden County extending northward along Main Street through the downtown area to First Street, a distance of about 1/4th of a mile.
The Christmas Parade through downtown Marion will begin at 5:00 Saturday afternoon and last about one hour.
The Marion Police Department, Crittenden County Sheriff’s Department, and rescue squad personnel will be providing traffic control during the event.
Todd says passenger vehicles may self-detour via side streets. However, he adds there is no practical detour for commercial trucks.
