Community members can help make Christmas a little brighter this year for those in need by dropping off donations at the annual “Shoots and Ladders” Toy and Coat Drive at Cash Express in Princeton this Saturday.
District Manager Tracy Joiner with Cash Express in Princeton tells the News Edge this year’s event will include some friendly competition between Caldwell County and Lyon County law enforcement, firefighters and medical personnel to see who can stuff the most donations into their vehicles. According to Joiner, the sheriff’s department, fire department, and EMS in Caldwell County will compete against the police department, sheriff’s office and EMS in Lyon County. She says they will be collecting new toys, new coats, nonperishable food items and monetary donations.
She says all the toys and monetary donations collected by agencies in Caldwell County will go toward the David Scott Memorial Toy and Coat Drive and the HOPE and COPE Resource Center while all toys and donations collected by agencies in Lyon County will go to the HOPE and COPE Resource Center in that county.
The agencies in Caldwell and Lyon counties will have their vehicles set up in the parking lot at Cash Express at 311 U.S. Highway 62 West in Princeton with donations accepted from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.
WPKY 103.3 FM/1580 AM will broadcast live Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
