Wanted Fugitive Arrested In Lyon County After Pursuit

A motorcycle pursuit in Lyon County over the weekend led to the arrest of a man wanted on warrants out of Graves County for kidnapping, multiple counts of strangulation and numerous other charges.
Lyon County Sheriff Brent White says Deputy Joe Witherspoon assisted state police in a pursuit that began around 1:15 Sunday morning when a trooper attempted to stop a motorcycle in Eddyville on US 62 West but the driver, later identified as 38-year old David Marutzky of Mount Prospect, Illinois, fled and continued into Kuttawa.
According to the report, the motorcyclist then turned north on KY 93 and continued to Luka Ferry Road where the pursuit ended in a field area. Marutzky then fled on foot and was located on the bank of the Cumberland River where he resisted arrest. Sheriff White says Marutzky was taken into custody after he was tased.
Kentucky State Police charged Marutzky with multiple traffic-related offenses, resisting arrest, first-degree fleeing or evading police in a vehicle, first-degree fleeing or evading on foot, wanton endangerment, third-degree criminal mischief relating to damage to the crop field, and possession of marijuana, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
In addition, Sheriff White says Marutzky was wanted on warrants out of Graves County on charges for kidnapping an adult, first-degree wanton endangerment, third-degree terroristic threatening, fleeing or evading police, multiple counts of first-degree strangulation, second-degree assault domestic violence, theft over $500, second-degree escape, and second-degree persistent felony offender.
Marutzky was lodged in the Crittenden County Jail.
Deputy Joe Witherspoon and Deputy Sam Adams assisted Kentucky State Police in addition to Lyon County EMS.
