A third person was arrested last week and charged in connection to the theft of scrap metal from a recycling center in Webster County.
Providence Police Chief Todd Jones reported 50-year old Janis Gibson was arrested last Monday, December 20, at the Providence Recycling Center after a warrant was issued charging her with receiving stolen property over $1,000.
Chief Jones said Gibson knowingly assisted her husband, Brent Gibson to dispose of scrap metal stolen from the business.
As reported by the News Edge last week, an investigation into missing scrap metal from Providence Recycling led to the arrest of an employee 42-year old Brent Gibson, of Providence, as well as 29-year old Clayton Thomas Eaton, of Big Rock, Tennessee.
According to Chief Jones, Gibson and Eaton had been removing scrap metal from the Providence Recycling on numerous occasions for nearly a year and then selling it at other scrap metal businesses without the owner’s knowledge. He said the total estimated value of the thefts is over $10,000.
