Caldwell County Clerk Discusses May Primary Election

Caldwell County Clerk Toni Watson

Any Caldwell Countian who wants to run in the 2022 local election has until Friday to file your paperwork at the County Clerk’s Office.
County Clerk Toni Watson said last week on WPKY that there are rumors the deadline could be extended but currently the deadline is 4 p.m.

She noted the May Primary Election will be on the 17th. Watson explained that for this election they will continue the vote center in Caldwell County.

On election day, she said they would have two polling locations at the Caldwell County Courthouse.

According to Watson, early voting for the May primary election with no excuse will be held on May 12th, 13th, and 14th.

Watson said they are also going to have an election absentee portal online that will be open from April 2 to May 3.

Watson explained the one thing that she appreciates about Kentucky’s elections laws entrustment is the ballot has to be requested and then verified by a committee.

She explained this is a way for those who want to vote but may not feel comfortable coming in person to cast their ballot due to COVID.

If you are not a registered Democrat or Republican, Watson noted you will not be able to vote in the May primary election.
Again, the deadline for candidates to file for partisan county seats for the May primary election is at 4 p.m. on Friday, January 7th.
