The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office was busy responding to wrecks and vehicle slide-offs after several inches of snow blanketed roadways causing slick and hazardous conditions Thursday.
Sheriff Brent White reports Lyon County deputies responded to ten calls to assist motorists that involved vehicle slide-offs with minimal or no damage. He says six of the calls were on KY 93 with one call each on KY 274, KY 1055, Rose Lane, and Commerce Street in Eddyville.
Deputies also responded to one wreck with injuries and one non-injury accident.  Sheriff White says the injury collision involved the arrest of a DUI driver after his release from a local hospital. He says the collisions occurred on KY 295 South in Kuttawa and Interstate 69 at the 71-mile marker.

Sheriff White says Kentucky State Police responded to a crash on Interstate 24 at the 49-mile marker, along with multiple other slide-0ffs on I-24 and one slide-off on KY 1055.
Sheriff White adds they don’t expect the temperature to increase for the salt to work, until around 11am Friday. He says motorists should stay in, if possible. If you do have to drive, he encourages motorists to allow extra time to get to our destination, slow down before intersections, bridges/overpasses, and off-ramps. He also says drivers should never use cruise control when driving in rain or snow events.
