Kentucky State Police is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred in Webster County Friday morning.
Spokesman Trooper Brandon McPherson says, at the request of the Providence Police Department, Post 2 and the Critical Incident Response Team initiated an investigation into the incident that occurred shortly before 11:00 in Providence. He says a male suspect was transported to Baptist Health Deaconess Medical Center in Madisonville.
According to Trooper McPherson, no other details about the officer-involved shooting are being released at this time to protect the integrity of an ongoing investigation. He adds it is the standard operating procedure for Kentucky State Police not to release specific details until vital witnesses have been interviewed and pertinent facts gathered.
