Lt. Gov. Presents Funding For Caldwell County Projects

After back-to-back disasters, Caldwell County received some good news Wednesday. Lt. Governor Jacqueline Coleman was joined by local leaders and elected officials as she presented checks totaling $1 million for water and sewer projects, a school safety transportation project and road improvements.
Lt. Gov. Coleman said Caldwell County is receiving the funding for some exciting projects to help with some basic needs in the county and some improvements to infrastructure.

Coleman presented a $220,000 check to Caldwell County Water District CEO Jimmy Littlefield for system improvement projects. Littlefield said the funds would be used for improvements to the distribution system.

Fredonia Mayor Jim Seibert

The City of Fredonia was awarded $28,147 for an isolation valve project. Mayor Jim Seibert stated that Fredonia always helps when there is a need and challenge in the county but their water system is failing and they need more financial help.

Princeton Water & Wastewater Superintendent James Noel and Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman

The Princeton Water and Wastewater Commission was awarded $220,000 for an improvement to a holding tank. Superintendent James Noel said there have been no major improvements since 1994 and this money will help make an improvement at the wastewater plant.

Judge-Executive Larry Curling and Lt. Governor Jacqueline Coleman

Lt. Coleman also presented a check for $88,300 administered by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s Department of Rural and Municipal Aid for resurfacing Old Madisonville Road and Rufus Road. Judge-Executive Larry Curling said there are over 300 miles of roads in Caldwell County and the county tries to get the road system on a 16-year rotation.

Caldwell County Public Schools Superintendent Jeremy Roach and Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman

The Lt. Gov. also presented a $530,000 check to Caldwell County Public Schools for turn lanes to be constructed at the elementary school, which Coleman noted is slated to begin next month. Superintendent Jeremy Roach said anytime you can invest in the safety of the students it is money well spent.
