
The Caldwell County school board is moving forward with the construction of safety vestibules at the primary, middle and high schools after approving the BG-1 at Tuesday night’s meeting.
Superintendent Jeremy Roach recommended the board approve the BG-1 in order to get the project slated to move forward with preliminary cost estimates for the safety vestibules at all three schools totaling over $777,000.
click to download audioHe said construction costs are really high right now, but safety is important and the district has the money in restricted funds to do the project.

Roach also noted they may be able to get some additional funding help from the state.

Board members also unanimously approved the construction documents for the elementary school renovation project.
click to download audioThe board also recognized the Caldwell County Elementary School AARP essay contest winner and runner-up, the Caldwell County Middle School Academic Team, the Caldwell County High School Academic Team, and Kelly James who is slated for the KMEA All-State Orchestra.
The board also heard an update from Randy McCarty regarding the vocational school. He said they currently have 334 kids at the vocational schools comprised of students from the counties of Caldwell, Crittenden Lyon and Trigg, along with Dawson Springs and three home-schooled kids.
Roach also recognized Judy Edwards, the recipient of the Tiger Testimonial Award for February.
