Woman Rescued From Crittenden County House Fire

A woman was rescued from a house fire on Mott City Road in Crittenden County Friday afternoon.
Crittenden County Volunteer Fire Chief Scott Hurley tells the News Edge firefighters along with the Caldwell Springs Fire Department and Crittenden County EMS were dispatched around 1:20 p.m. to a residential structure fire in the 3,000 block of Mott City Road near the intersection of Weldon Road with the caller trapped inside her bedroom.
Upon arrival, Chief Hurley says the woman’s bedroom was filled with smoke. He adds, the woman was able to push out a window air-conditioner unit, and Marion Firefighter Evan Cruce and Marion Police Sergeant Heath Martin pulled her through the window. She was treated on the scene by EMS.
According to Chief Hurley, the fire was quickly extinguished and contained to the living room, with heat, smoke and water damage throughout the house.
He says the Marion City Fire Department, Fredonia Fire and Rescue, and Caldwell County Fire and Rescue also responded to the house fire to provide manpower with a total of approximately 23 firefighters on the scene. In addition, the chief says members of the Crittenden County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
Chief Hurley says the pictures (below) show how important it is to keep doors closed in your bedrooms while you sleep. He indicates the picture on the left is from the living room and the one on the right is from inside the occupant’s bedroom where she was located.
