Lake Barkley Economic Development Looking Into Industrial Park Development

Lake Barkley for Economic Development and local leaders are exploring what opportunities may be available at the state-owned industrial park near the prison farm.
Economic Development Executive Director Amanda Davenport told magistrates at a recent Caldwell County Fiscal Court meeting there was a five-county regional park established about 20-years ago on KY 641 by the prison farm. Davenport added she is working with the Cabinet of Economic Development and Pennyrile Area Development District to see what they can do with the industrial park.


click to download audioDavenport said the industrial park includes about 1,800 acres on the north side of the prison farm and is owned by the Kentucky Department of Corrections. She noted the property is considered in a floodplain but she believes there may be funding available to address that issue.


click to download audioShe noted this project is going to be a big undertaking and they are just looking at it to see how viable it would be as an industrial park because it connects directly to I-69 and it’s owned by the state.
