Trial Date Set For Clearman Court Murder Suspect

A trial date has been set for a Hopkinsville man accused in a fatal shooting on Clearman Court in December.
49-year old Bobby Spikes, who had dual addresses of Hopkinsville and Princeton, is charged with murder in the death of Stanley Bussell on December 9th.
During a pretrial conference in Christian Circuit Court Wednesday morning, Spikes’ defense attorney Douglas Moore informed Judge John Atkins they were not going to be able to reach a resolution in this case. Moore said he is hesitant to set a trial date because he expects Spikes’ will be indicted in Trigg County in connection to this case.

According to state police, Spikes reportedly shot and killed 34-year old Candice Marcel who was found in a passenger seat of a car that was discovered by a Trigg County Sheriff’s deputy while on patrol on Cerulean Road on December 9th. During her death investigation, state police went to her home and found the body of Bussell.
State police say the investigation revealed that Bussell was lured by his co-worker, Marcel, to her residence where he was shot in the head. The report said Spikes was the boyfriend of Marcel and was known to frequent her residence.
